Lifestyle & Culture Editorial Internship

Mostly Sugar Media is searching for curious, creative, and culture-conscious individuals to join our team as Lifestyle & Culture Editorial Interns for Winter/Spring 2025. This unpaid internship, eligible for college credit, offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital media while helping shape stories that explore how we live, connect, and celebrate culture.

What You’ll Gain

As a Lifestyle & Culture Editorial Intern, you’ll:

  • Contribute to content that sparks conversation and celebrates authenticity in lifestyle, culture, and trends.

  • Assist with writing, researching, and brainstorming editorial ideas that resonate with a millennial and Gen Z audience.

  • Learn the ropes of digital media and develop skills in storytelling, trend analysis, and content creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and proofread articles covering topics like travel, wellness, food, relationships, art, and social commentary.

  • Trend Research: Stay informed on cultural shifts, lifestyle trends, and timely events to pitch fresh and engaging story ideas.

  • Interviewing & Story Development: Conduct interviews and research to create meaningful, well-rounded content.

  • Social Media Support: Craft share-worthy captions and posts to support editorial content and engage readers online.

  • Administrative Tasks: Manage editorial calendars, fact-check stories, and organize resources for the team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sociology, Cultural Studies, or a related field.

  • Have excellent writing and storytelling skills, with a passion for exploring lifestyle and cultural topics.

  • Demonstrate strong research and interviewing abilities to gather reliable insights and perspectives.

  • Be familiar with AP style guidelines and able to adapt writing to match Mostly Sugar’s conversational, edgy tone.

  • Exhibit knowledge of lifestyle trends, cultural movements, and topics relevant to millennial and Gen Z audiences.

  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bring a positive attitude, curiosity, and a desire to grow as a writer and editor.

  • Bonus: Basic knowledge of SEO principles and social media strategy.
